Entrepreneurial Projects
Estelle’s Secret
Business Summary
International beauty business founded by a hair stylist providing affordable hair extensions without sacrificing quality. 100% self-funded purchase from the previous owner who no longer had time to maintain the business.
Investment Thesis/Rationale
Positive cash flow business upon purchase but with opportunity to enhance on-going profitability 5-10% by cutting negative ROI marketing spend, eliminating 3rd party costs, and divesting low margin product lines. Re-invest to grow topline via social media campaigns, hiring team of beauty experts to create content, expand into untapped markets (weddings), and diversify clientele with bulk buying power (salons).
Fire Blossom Candle
Business Summary
I founded this company with the intent to make special celebrations even more special by offering a product that brings smiles, ”oohs” and “awes” from everyone. A Fire Blossom is a unique candle most often used for birthdays, but can be used for any special occasion. A portion of each sale is donated to Operation: Smile, an international children’s medical charity that heals children’s smiles.
Investment Thesis/Rationale
Build an on-going cash flow positive business with less than $5,000 in start-up costs with minimal fixed costs, overhead, and zero marketing costs (all no-cost social media). This was my first business outside of my traditional job and the learnings from this company informed future entrepreneurial projects and investment decisions.
Crypto Sports Collector
Business Summary
Platform that provides investment education in the sports NFT space and other alternative assets which are built on Blockchain technology. I do this by borrowing concepts from traditional investment areas (stock market, real estate) and my corporate finance background and breaking down / synthesizing those concepts in an easy-to-understand manner for my audience; note, does not constitute investment advice.
Investment Thesis/Rationale
Develop a platform with an audience that provides recurring revenue coming from members-only monthly subscriptions and/or (eventual) e-book sales. Initial start-up costs required to build content and scale social media presence via steady, controlled marketing spend and hiring an entirely remote support team. On-going costs should be predictable and focus will be on growing subscriptions.
